    Adopt-A-Wish®

When you give through the Adopt-A-Wish program, you’re able to follow the journey of one special child as they receive your support in making their magical wish come true.

    What It Is

The Adopt-A-Wish program enables individuals, companies or groups of individuals to raise money through a variety of ways to support a wish. You’ll follow the personal journey of a wish child as their wish is fulfilled.

    How It Works

Sponsors receive personal information about one of our many special wish children, including their medical condition, hobbies and their wish story. Funds raised will turn that child’s wish into a reality.

    How You Can Get Involved

Since this is a very flexible program, sponsors can be as creative as they want to raise funds. Whether you’re an individual or a group, you can plan an event, collect donations on behalf of members, honour clients by making a donation and much more. If you would like to Adopt-A-Wish in your community, please email joyce.nifort@makeawish.ca

    Third Party Events

Third party events are fundraisers that the community puts on on behalf of Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces. We can often assist you with pieces of your event - just ask!

Third party events can be a unique and effective way to support Make-A-Wish. Fundraising events are planned and carried out by you. You and your team of volunteers can then give the proceeds to Make-A-Wish that help support our mission. Not only do you provide funds to help make wishes happen in Atlantic Canada, but you also assist us in differing the costs of carrying these events out ourselves. We have a team of 4 employees. So, human resources are low -- your fundraising is a key component to help us to carry on our life-transforming mission.

Here are just some of the great ideas that have been used by organizations and individuals to help fundraise on our behalf:

    • Gala dinners
    • Walk-a-thons
    • Golf tournaments
    • Sports tournaments
    • Gift with donation
    • Silent auctions
    • BBQs
    • Bake sales
    • Pizza lunches
    • Dessert promotions

    What It Is

Fundraising events that are planned from outside parties, who in turn, give the proceeds to help support Make-A-Wish.

    How It Works

Before any event is promoted to the public, Make-A-Wish must approve your third party event. Once you get the green light, you’re good to start making those wishes come true!

    How You Can Get Involved

This is your chance to be really creative in encouraging others to support our cause. You can have walk-a-thons, bowling parties, garage sales, fashion shows, car washes and much more. When you support wishes, the sky’s the limit!

If you would like to host a Third Party Event in your community, please email joyce.nifort@makeawish.ca

    What It Is

Students For Wishes is a great way to get your school involved in giving back to the community. Through student volunteers, funds raised with the efforts of your school go towards wish children in that community.

    How It Works

We work with a dedicated student volunteer executive that raises awareness and funds for our cause. Usually, they’re set up as an on-campus club and help to offer students an opportunity to give back to their community through various events and fundraising campaigns.

    How You Can Get Involved

Contact us if you would like to be a student volunteer or want to set up an on-campus club at your school to help Make-A-Wish.

    Kids for Wish Kids®

At Make-A-Wish, children are everything. And Kids For Wish Kids is a program that truly empowers them because kids manage it. Through responsibility and big hearts, kids increase awareness for our mission and help many other children in turn.

    What It Is

Through fundraising managed by kids, Kids For Wish Kids helps to increase awareness of what Make-A-Wish does. But most of all, it gives kids hands-on experience in volunteer work and empowers them to help other children in need.

    How It Works

Children form a committee, come up with fundraising ideas and ensure they are carried out. While teachers and parents sometimes serve as advisors, the kids are the ones who run the show! They can organize almost anything from a bake sale, to a dance marathon, a car wash and much more.

    How You Can Get Involved

If you would like to increase our awareness and help grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, then contact any of our Chapters to see how you can get started.

If you would like to learn more about the Kids for Wish Kids program in your community, please email steven.butler@makeawish.ca
