Make-A-Wish® is pleased to work with media outlets across the country to help raise awareness for our magical wish granting mission.
Facts about Make-A-Wish® Atlantic Provinces
Make-A-Wish® Atlantic Provinces has been granting wishes since 2001. Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, we cover a large geographical area comprising the four Atlantic Provinces of Canada – Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick.
As volunteers, Jill & Bruce Sutherland founded our Chapter in 2001. They ran the organization for the first five years until a staff member was hired in 2006.
In 2012, we granted our 100th wish. We are continuing to grow and build on success.
We belong to the largest wish-granting organization in the world, with 65 chapters in the United States and its territories, eight chapters in Canada, and 49 international affiliates on five continents.
Volunteers are the largest component of Make-A-Wish. Our Wish Granting volunteers assist the Wish Families with the wish-granting process and act as our liaisons with the families. Other volunteers include our Board of Directors, special event volunteers, and wish granters.
Our Chapter Board of Directors has 11 dedicated and committed members, with three Board Advisors and a number of sub-committees, including our Executive Committee, Rope for Hope Committee, Revenue Generation, Governance, and Golf Committees.
Fully registered Canadian charity, business number 881291918RR0001.
Yearly audited Financial Statements are prepared by Lyle, Tilley, & Davidson CAs and are available upon request.
