Christian's Wish | to travel to Spain & Home of Real Madrid

When you keep your eye on the goal, anything is possible. Any dream can come true if you keep moving and keep trying. That’s 15-year old Christian’s motto.  Nothing slows down this happy and enthusiastic teenager from always competing at his best in hockey, basketball and soccer – his true passion. Says mom proudly, “Christian's soccer team won the provincial banner last season and he played with another school to take home the provincial banner for indoor soccer. He also competes in the NLBA tournament with his basketball team. He never stops!”

While for most teenage boys, playing sports is a part of day-to-day life. What makes Christian different is that he lives with cystic fibrosis, an incurable and potentially life-threatening condition causing thick mucus to clog his lungs. Resulting in scars from constant infection, cystic fibrosis sufferers slowly have greater and greater difficulty supplying oxygen to their body and their immune system slowly can lose the battle against infection. Sports and rigorous exercise is one way Christian keepings his illness in check.

Through it all, he never losses a beat or stops moving forward. No shot is a long shot. Even if the goal posts are thousands of miles away across the North Atlantic. Christian can see them. He continues to look forward to the future in hope of scoring the ultimate wish come true -- to stand on the grounds of soccer greatness in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the home of Real Madrid, Christian’s favorite soccer team. "He couldn't wipe the smile off his face," said Mom.

Make-A-Wish® Atlantic Provinces is grateful to Travel Underwriters whose generous donation helped support Christian's magical wish and the wishes of children like him across Canada.
