Logan's Wish

A Hockey Fan, Joins the NHL Family

Eighteen-year-old Logan from Perth-Andover, NB has just graduated high school, is an avid Pittsburgh Penguin fan, and a typical teenager who likes to hang out with his friends, and plays copious amounts of sports and video games.

When Logan was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma his world of playing videos games and sports shifted; it became more about hospital visits and when his next treatment was. However, through all the treatments he received, it didn’t dampen his team spirit. He ensured to stay up-to-date on all the Pens news, and he even got to meet his idol, Sidney Crosby, when he came to Halifax with the Stanley Cup. It shouldn’t be a surprise what Logan wished for when we asked him; Logan wished to be a Pittsburgh Penguin!

After lengthy trade dicussions, and rumours of new players, Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces sent Logan and his parents to Pittsburgh for him to be signed to the team! During a press conference, Penguin’s General Manager, Jim Rutherford, witnessed Logan sign his one-day contract to become a Pittsburgh Penguin. The day was filled with surpirses, from having a team breakfast in the locker room, to getting on the ice for a skate practice, to being interviewed by the press, and even playing with the legend Sid the Kid himself. Logan got a taste of what it was like to be a NHL player, and the lifestyle suited him! Logan’s mom, Jeannie, said “Logan will cherish these memories for the rest of his life, thank you Make-A-Wish!”
